Terms of Service

By using FromResident you agree to these terms. They are written plainly. Please read them.

Eligibility

You must be 18 or older to use FromResident.

Your account

You sign in through Google or LinkedIn. We do not store passwords. You are responsible for keeping your OAuth account secure.

Acceptable use

  • Do not impersonate someone else.
  • Do not post false information about a building, unit, or your residency.
  • Do not harass other users or send unsolicited messages.
  • Do not use the platform for illegal activity.
  • Do not attempt to scrape or reverse-engineer the platform.

Resident verification

During the pilot, identity and lease verification are paused. At official launch, residents will be required to verify identity and proof of residency through a trusted third-party service. We reserve the right to remove resident profiles that misrepresent their living situation.

Payments

  • Renters pay per conversation. Pricing is shown on the home page.
  • Residents earn from each paid conversation.
  • Refund requests are handled case by case. Contact us within seven days of the conversation.

Content

  • You retain ownership of messages and feedback you send.
  • By sending a message, you grant FromResident a license to deliver and display it to the other conversation participant.
  • We may anonymize and aggregate conversation data to improve the product.

Disclaimer

FromResident is a marketplace for resident opinions. Information shared by residents is their own opinion, not legal or financial advice, and is not guaranteed to be accurate. Always verify independently before signing a lease.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may close your own account at any time from your Account page.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FromResident's total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous six months.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States.
